Forsyth Park covers about 30 acres. The city traces its first ten acres to the 1840s, with later expansion, and dates the fountain to 1858. Paths cross the northern lawn around the fountain; the larger open field and recreation areas are farther south.

The city lists walking paths, open green space and sports facilities. The Cultural Landscape Foundation also documents the Fragrant Garden, playgrounds, café and performance space. The city's tennis-court notice gives September 14, 2026 as a target completion date; check the current project status rather than assuming the target was met.
The film's bench scene was shot in Chippewa Square, not Forsyth Park. Visit Savannah's Chippewa Square profile says the production brought in a bench and that a replica of the prop is at the Savannah History Museum. Use Chippewa Square for the filming location and Forsyth for the 1858 fountain and park paths.
Markets, festivals and permitted events can occupy paths or lawns and change nearby traffic. Check the city's calendar before treating the park as a quiet shortcut. On an ordinary day, the north end pairs naturally with a Bull Street walk; the southern recreation areas need more time and do not substitute for the square route.
Approach from Gaston Street for a fountain-only stop. For the better route, start around Chippewa or Monterey Square and let Forsyth be the finish instead of a disconnected photo stop.
