Savannah Restaurants
Five useful starting points, selected for different meal decisions and checked against current official policies. These are not anonymous dining reviews.
By Savannah Visitor GuideUpdated September 2026
This shortlist includes places with distinct reservation or service formats and enough current first-party detail to plan around. Inclusion is not a claim that one kitchen tastes better than another. The useful comparison is whether the location, meal period, payment rules and seating model fit the day.
Restaurant shortlist by planning need
| Restaurant | Good fit for | Current mechanics | Main tradeoff |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mrs. Wilkes Dining Room | A weekday communal Southern lunch | Mon–Fri, 11 a.m.–2 p.m.; no reservations; shared tables; cash or check only | $35 age 13+, $17.50 children; a line and shared seating are part of the format |
| The Olde Pink House | A central historic-building lunch or dinner with reservations | Lunch Tue–Sat; dinner daily; reservations accepted | A lunch plan works Tuesday through Saturday, not every day |
| The Grey | A dinner reservation or Sunday meal near the west side of downtown | Dinner Tue–Sat; Sunday brunch and dinner; reservations through Resy | It is a fixed destination meal rather than a spontaneous stop on every sightseeing route |
| Common Thread | A dinner south of the main tourist core | Nightly dinner schedule listed; reservations accepted | At 122 E. 37th St., it needs a separate walk or ride from River Street |
| Crystal Beer Parlor | A first-come lunch or dinner without a reservation | Tue–Sun, 11 a.m.–9 p.m.; first come, no reservations | A wait is possible and Monday is currently closed |

Mrs. Wilkes is a service format, not a normal reservation
Mrs. Wilkes currently serves lunch Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. It does not take reservations, seats guests at shared tables and accepts cash or check rather than cards. The listed price is $35 for guests 13 and older and $17.50 for children. Its FAQ addresses specific dietary constraints, but anyone with an allergy should contact the restaurant rather than infer accommodation from a buffet-style description.
Book dinner around geography
The Olde Pink House fits a central Historic District route and currently serves dinner daily, with lunch Tuesday through Saturday. The Grey is near the west side of downtown and currently runs dinner Tuesday through Saturday plus Sunday brunch and dinner. Common Thread is farther south at 37th Street. Treat that dinner as its own destination instead of assuming it sits beside the squares or River Street.
Keep one no-reservation option
Crystal Beer Parlor currently seats first come and does not accept reservations. That makes it useful as a flexible meal, but flexibility does not guarantee immediate seating. Its posted schedule is Tuesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Check the day's hours before walking over.
How to choose without a false ranking
Start with the fixed point in the day. If it is a house-museum tour, choose lunch by the museum's end time. If it is a riverboat, verify check-in before making a dinner reservation. For a weekend evening, reserve the destination meal first and let the surrounding route follow. A food tour can replace a meal only when the operator states the number and size of tastings; the format varies.
One current listing conflict was left out
Cotton & Rye's official pages showed conflicting Monday information during this review. Rather than guess which schedule controls, this page omits a day-specific claim until the restaurant confirms it.
