Best Ghost Tours in Savannah GA
Savannah keeps its oldest cemetery downtown and its ghost stories in houses with real dates. Compare routes, age rules and the rare doors that open after dark.

In short: Walk if you want the squares and cemetery wall. Take the trolley if you need a seat or want to enter the Andrew Low House. Choose the pub crawl for a 21-plus night out. The catalog leader is Pub Crawl and Ghost Tour (4.7★ from 313 reviews, from $35).
Colonial Park Cemetery is the stage, even though every night tour stays outside its wall. More than 9,000 people were buried here between 1750 and 1853, and the city locks the gates after daylight hours. Guides work from the sidewalk, using the old graves, the yellow-fever years and the duels tied to this part of town. That is plenty of atmosphere without anyone rattling a cemetery gate.
The Andrew Low House is the exception to the outside-only rule: Old Town's ghost trolley goes inside. Walking tours use the squares and houses; paranormal trips add equipment or museum access; pub crawls add four bars and require ID. Bonaventure is not a night stop, and the Bird Girl hasn't been there since 1997. Come for storytelling at real addresses, not a séance or a history seminar.
Four ways to spend a haunted evening
Walking ghost tours
Sixty to 120 minutes through the squares and along the cemetery wall. Early departures are all ages; later walks use darker material and often start at 16-plus.
Best for: First visits, couples, the squares after dark
The haunted trolley
An 80-minute PG-13 ride that enters the Andrew Low House and a ship chandlery. Strobe lights are used.
Best for: Teens, limited walking, a wet night
Paranormal trolley and museum
Ages 13 and up, with after-hours museum access. Choose it for equipment and objects, not a traditional story walk.
Best for: Paranormal enthusiasts, gadget-minded teens
Haunted pub crawls
Two hours and four bars. Drinks cost extra, everyone needs ID and dinner should happen first.
Best for: Groups, adults-only nights, a second visit

How the ranking works
No operator pays for position. Ratings are weighted by review volume, because a 4.7 from a thousand guests tells you more than a 5.0 from three. Prices come from the current catalog and can change at checkout.
Format first: walk for storytelling, trolley for less walking and one interior, paranormal for equipment, pub crawl for a social night. The routes overlap because the same square mile supplies the addresses.

Pick by the kind of night you want
For couples
Take a later walk when the squares are quieter. Choose the pub crawl only if the bars are part of the date.
For families with teens
The seated PG-13 trolley is easiest. Younger children belong on an early all-ages walk, not the 16-plus departures.
For history first
Choose a walk from Colonial Park or Johnson Square, then visit a house museum by day for the curated version.
For paranormal enthusiasts
Pick the museum trolley or ghost-hunting investigation. Both finish late and involve stairs.
For groups
The 21-plus pub crawl gives the night a structure. Book one departure together and eat first.
For value
The short Oglethorpe Square walk is cheapest; Grave Tales adds time and more departures.
Before you head out
Book the popular darkness
Halloween, March 17 week and the 8 or 9 p.m. slots fill first. Read the cancellation cutoff.
Trust the confirmation
Tours meet at several squares, cemetery gates, River Street and West Boundary. Use the exact pin in your booking.
Evening garages are cheap
Central garages use low flat rates after 5. Meters go free after 8; the parking guide has the exceptions.
Dress for standing
Wear proper shoes, carry summer water and bring a winter layer. Take ID for age-restricted tours and cash for a tip.
The stories involve real deaths
These stories are attached to real deaths: two yellow fever epidemics, duels, the enslaved people who built and staffed the houses on the routes, and the murders the 16-plus walks are built around. The city asks that its cemeteries not be sensationalized, and the good guides don't. If you're bringing children, or you'd rather skip the darker material, book the 7 or 8 p.m. all-ages walk or the trolley and save the late walks and pub crawls for another night.
Questions before you book
Are ghost tours worth it?
Yes as a first-trip evening. You are paying for storytelling in the squares, not a séance or a history lecture; tours run 60 to 120 minutes from about $27 upward.
What is the best ghost tour?
Walk for the squares, take the trolley for a seat and interior access, choose paranormal for equipment, or a pub crawl for bars. Format matters more than a universal winner.
Is Savannah really “America's most haunted city”?
That is marketing. The documented setting—epidemics, an old municipal cemetery and 19th-century houses—is atmospheric enough without proving a superlative.
Are the tours scary?
Mostly eerie, not jump-scare attractions. Early walks are milder; late walks cover darker deaths; the trolley is PG-13 and uses strobes.
Are they appropriate for children?
Choose an early all-ages walk or the PG-13 trolley. Late walks are often 16-plus and pub crawls 21-plus.
Do tours enter buildings?
The haunted trolley enters two, and the paranormal trolley opens its museum after hours. Walking tours remain outside, including at cemetery walls.
How long do they last?
Walks run 60 to 120 minutes; the trolley 80 minutes; pub crawls two hours. Arrive early because guides leave on time.
Where do they meet?
Mostly in central squares, at Colonial Park gates, on River Street or West Boundary. Your confirmation has the only meeting point that matters.
What time do they start?
Most departures fall between 7 and 10 p.m. Later walks tend to carry the higher age limits.
How much do they cost?
The all-ages short walk is currently $27, Grave Tales $30, the haunted trolley $43 and the paranormal trolley $53. The comparison table shows the rest live.
What should I wear?
Walking shoes, summer water and a winter layer. Light rain usually does not stop the tour; heels merely make the cobbles vindictive.
Are tours wheelchair accessible?
It depends on the route. Historic sidewalks are rough, and the Ghosts and Gravestones vehicle has no lift; ask the operator about the whole route.
Can I take a ghost tour inside Bonaventure?
No. Bonaventure is a daytime cemetery, and the city bars haunted-marketed tours inside its cemeteries.

Build the evening around the start time
Ghost tours work best as the second half of an evening. Eat first, because the walks start at 7 and the pub crawls stop at bars, not restaurants; the restaurant guide has the dinner reservations to make and the food tours cover the afternoon. Park once in an evening-rate garage from the parking guide, and for the daytime version of the same houses and squares see the history tours and the Historic District walk.
